Amelia Gorgas: A History of Nursing and Medicine is an exhibit is on the history of nursing on campus and Amelia Gorgas’ role as nurse matron. It provides details of Amelia’s time as a nurse during the Civil War, her role as a caretaker to students at the University, and medical practices in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The exhibit will also showcase medicinal bottles from the late 19th century that mirror the types of treatments Amelia used. They will be placed inside her original medicine cabinet. The Gorgas House Museum is open Monday-Friday from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm.
