Job Description

PERFORMANCE PLANNING

Obtains and prepares specimens for laboratory testing.  Performs clerical functions in the receiving of samples and reporting of laboratory data.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Collects,Transports and receives specimens with knowledge regarding transporting requirements to maintain specimen integrity.and with knowledge regarding age specific laboratory needs of the patient.
  2. Performs clerical duties as necessary to process laboratory specimens and reports.
  3. Inventories and stocks supplies.  Checks, inspects and ensures proper storage and handling.
  4. Performs documentation for all tasks performed.
  5. Collects and transports Nursing Home clients.

  • Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.
  • Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
  • Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

High school graduate or possess a GED certificate.

Must be able to operate general office equipment, computers and general laboratory equipment.  Possesses a valid driver’s license.  Must be insurable by DCH auto insurance. 

Abilities are demonstrated in areas of assigned responsibilities by successful completion of annual laboratory competency testing.  Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
